Before You Submit
Submission guidelines
A few minutes of prep now means a faster, more accurate estimate — and fewer surprises once we inspect your collection. Here’s how to get it right the first time.
Our focus
What we buy
Retro Rematch buys video games — cartridges, discs, and boxed games, complete or loose, across classic and modern platforms.
Photos
Taking your photos
Group games by platform
Lay your games out (Recommended) or shoot the spines in groups, rather than one photo per game. Grouping them by platform (NES, SNES, PS1, etc.) helps us identify everything quickly and accurately.
Good lighting, no blur
Natural light or a bright room works best. Make sure the shot is in focus — a blurry photo is the most common reason a game gets missed or misidentified.
Show the whole title
For boxed games, include the front cover. For loose cartridges, make sure the full label is visible and not cropped, angled, or covered by another game.
Photograph each game only once
You do not need a separate photo for every game — a few well-lit group photos are usually enough for us to identify a whole collection. A game that appears in more than one photo will be counted as more than one copy.
Before your estimate
Review your collection first
Match every case to its disc
Double-check that each case actually contains a disc, and that it’s the right one. An empty or mismatched case cannot be valued as complete, and it’s one of the most common surprises we find during inspection.
Test what you can
If you are able to, pop a cartridge in or spin a disc to confirm it works. A quick note in your submission about anything that does not work saves everyone time later.
Check and note condition
A cracked case, heavily damaged label, or a cartridge that will not read can mean a $0 value on an item. Skim our Condition Guidelines and note any issues in your submission. The more we know now, the fewer adjustments we make after inspection.
Better estimates
Why this matters
The clearer your photos and the more accurate your notes, the fewer deductions will occur — and the faster we can get through inspection and get you paid.
