We start with the specific game and platform, and what that game is worth in the market today based on recent sales. We then factor in the condition and completeness of what you have, such as a loose cartridge or disc, a complete copy with its box and manual, or a sealed copy, how popular the game and platform are, how long we expect a game to take to sell, and what it costs us to inspect, prepare, and resell it. See our Condition Guidelines for more information about what can affect the value.

No. The estimate is based on your photos and information. After we physically receive and inspect your collection, we send you your inspection results, where the value of a game may be adjusted higher or lower. If nothing was lowered, there is nothing for you to approve and we move straight to your payment. If a game was lowered, you review the adjustment before any payment.

Yes. Once you accept your estimate and ship your collection to us, you have agreed to sell it and all sales are final, unless the final value of a game is adjusted upon inspection. If we lower the value of a game, you can accept the new value or have that game returned to you instead of sold. See our Terms of Service for the details.

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, and you must own the games you send. We only buy from the owner, so you cannot sell on behalf of anyone else. You must also be located in the United States. We currently buy only from sellers who ship their collection from a U.S. address. The games must not be stolen or counterfeit, and must not infringe anyone's intellectual property rights. See the Ownership section of our Terms of Service for the details.

Your estimate is locked for 14 days after we send it, and your private estimate link works for the same 14 days. After that, a new estimate with current market prices must be submitted. You can get a new estimate any time.

No. Everything happens through secure links we email you. Your confirmation email includes a private status page you can bookmark to check where your sale is at any time.

Email support@retrorematch.games with your name or reference number (looks like RR-2026-00000) and we will send you a fresh link. Every email we send after your first one also includes a working status link, so check those too.

Video games only for now — cartridges, discs, and boxed games. Not consoles, controllers, accessories, or other media through the website.

We often send your estimate within 24 hours of your submission. After that it depends on how quickly you respond to each step and on mail transit times. Once we receive your package, we aim to inspect it and send your inspection results within a few business days.

Estimates of $50 or more qualify for a free prepaid shipping label, which we email you after you accept the estimate. You pack your games, attach the label, and drop the box off. You can add optional insurance when you request your label. Your estimate page tells you up front whether you qualify. See our Shipping Information page for the full requirements and package limits.

You can still sell us your collection — you just cover the cost of shipping it to us, using any carrier you like, to the address we give you after you accept your estimate. Use a trackable service and pack your games securely. You are responsible for your package until it arrives, and the USPS coverage and optional insurance described below apply only to our prepaid labels. Your estimate page tells you up front whether free shipping is included. See our Shipping Information page for packing guidance.

Not at this time. Free prepaid labels are only available when shipping from the contiguous U.S. (the 48 states and Washington, DC), even on estimates of $50 or more — so not from Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, other U.S. territories, or military addresses. You can still sell us your collection — you would just cover the cost of shipping it to us.

You are responsible for your package until it arrives at our facility. Every prepaid label includes up to $100 of USPS coverage, and you can add optional insurance. If a covered package is lost or damaged in transit, we file the claim and, once it is resolved and paid, pay you the proceeds we receive, up to the lesser of your coverage amount and your estimated payout, less your insurance premium. A denied claim pays nothing. See the Optional shipping insurance section of our Terms of Service for the details. Our prepaid labels are trackable, so keep your tracking number until your sale is complete.

It's not required, but a quick wipe-down never hurts. We inspect and grade condition based on what actually arrives, so there's no need to do a deep clean beforehand.

There's no minimum. If you have a very large collection, feel free to reach out first so we can make sure shipping and inspection go smoothly.

We accept games across a wide range of conditions — see our Condition Guidelines page for exactly how cartridges and discs are graded, and how that affects value.

Yes, please. The notes box on the estimate form asks which games are missing their manuals and about any known condition issues, such as water damage, cracked discs, or torn labels. The more we know up front, the fewer deductions we need to make after inspection. See our Submission Guidelines for how to prepare your collection.

Sometimes, but condition affects value. A missing manual or insert, or heavy scratching, lowers a game's value. Games that do not work, and counterfeit, reproduction, or bootleg games, have no value, and a game valued at $0 is not returned. If you are unsure about a game, mention it in your notes or email us before you ship. See our Condition Guidelines for how each condition is valued.

For now we are focused on North American (NTSC-U) releases. If you are not sure whether your games qualify, send photos anyway — we will let you know as part of your estimate.

That's exactly why we inspect before we pay. Your estimate is based on your photos; once we have physically inspected everything, your inspection results show any adjustments based on what we actually found. If we lower the value of a game, you can accept the new value or have that game returned to you instead of sold.

We pay by bank transfer (ACH) or PayPal, whichever you choose after you review your inspection results. For a bank transfer, you enter your details securely with our payment provider, and we do not collect or store your bank-account numbers. For PayPal, you give us the email address on your PayPal account, so you need a PayPal account to be paid that way. We do not currently offer checks, cash, or other payment methods. Once you have given us your payment details, we send your payment after we approve the payout.

Once you accept your estimate and ship your collection, all sales are final unless the final value of a game is adjusted upon inspection. If we lower the value of a game, you can accept the new value or have that game returned to you instead of sold. The cost of return shipping is deducted from your payout, and you will see an estimate before you decide. A game valued at $0 is not considered adjusted and is not returned, including counterfeit games and games that do not work.

Since everything happens over email rather than an account, contact us before you ship if anything needs to change. Once your collection ships, we are unable to make changes, but you will always see your inspection results before any payment happens.
